A store in Paris, France has created a publicity stunt by letting customers steal. Well, steal if they can outrun a professional Olympic sprinter when they run away from the store.
For one day last month, a Paris’ boutique specializing in running gear lived by the slogan, “ROB IT TO GET IT” and brought in French Olympian Méba Mickael Zeze, who’s run the 100-meter dash in under 10 seconds, to catch any culprits who dared to steal the goods.
This was done in part to build up excitement for Paris Olympics in 2024.
So, how did the PR stunt work out? Out of the 76 customers who ran out of the shop with merch in hand, only two were able to get away with free stuff… and that was really more of a technicality since one man and one woman crossed the intersection just as the light at the crosswalk turned red. No word on if the other 74 were charged with theft.
