Boy Gets $13K In Donations After Being Given A Fake $100 Bill

Police in Everett, Washington, are looking for help identifying a man who gave a fake $100 bill to an 11-year-old boy to buy lemonade from his stand. The boy, named Jeremy Ryzhonkov, gave the con-man $85 in change, losing all the money he’d earned.

When Jeremy’s neighbor, Amy Steenfott, found out about the boy getting scammed, she asked his parents for permission to set up a GoFundMe to make it up to him. The word got out and in no time, hundreds of people had donated to the crowdfund, raising more than $13-thousand.

Amy posted an update on the GoFundMe page offering thanks and saying how Jeremy and his family were blown away by people’s generosity. “Again THANK YOU from the bottoms of our hearts,” she wrote. “This proves that there are so many great people in this world and we far surpass the bad ones.”
