An Atlanta police officer uses his patrol vehicle to crash through a gate to save a driver trapped in his vehicle. Atlanta Police Officer Jimmy Cenescar was called to the scene of an accident where a car had veered off the road and 50-feet down an embankment in northwest Atlanta. Cenescar arrived to a chaotic scene and to make matters worse, a locked gate was keeping him from accessing the crash site.
Cenescar’s body cam footage shows him rushing down the gravel road that leads to the ravine where the driver is trapped in his car. When the office reaches a locked gate, he radios in to get permission to break the gate down. After getting the go-ahead, Cenescar rams the gate. On the third pass, the gate gives way and he speeds down the path to save the driver.
"I knew I had to take action quickly to get that driver out of the vehicle," says the officer. "Everything felt like it was going in slow motion." His patrol car sustained some damage, but made it to the crashed car. Thanks to the officer’s quick actions, the injured driver got the help he needed and was rushed to the hospital.
