An Arizona woman is crediting her Apple Watch for saving her life.
Yolie De Leon says she felt a fluttering in her chest as she was about to take a walk and she looked down at her watch and saw a warning message that said to seek medical attention.
“It said my heart rate was at 174,” she recalled. “It said ‘you are in AFib” and to “call your doctor immediately.”
De Leon took it seriously, rushed to the hospital and had a number of tests done that revealed her watch was right. She was told her condition was “life-threatening” and she was hospitalized for a week.
To show her gratitude, she reached out to Apple CEO Tim Cook and got a response from him: “I'm so glad you sought medical attention and received the treatment you needed. Thanks for sharing your story with us. It inspires us to keep pushing forward.”
