How's this for nightmares for the rest of your life? A 59-year-old gravedigger was working at Hillside Cemetery in Lyndhurst, New Jersey, when the sides of the 8-foot-deep grave he was digging caved in, pinning him up to his knees in the dirt.
Sgt. Vincent Auteri said, "They did not utilize any shoring when they were digging the grave. He decided to jump in nevertheless." Fortunately, his pleas for help were heard by co-workers who called a rescue crew who were able to free him after about 30 minutes. After being pulled to safety, the cemetery worker was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center where he complained of back and chest pain. He probably also needed to change his pants.
