Congratulations are in order for Nicolas Cage. He’s been tapped to play Joe Exotic in the scripted version of his story. The eight-episode series is based on the “Texas Monthly” article “Joe Exotic: A Dark Journey Into the World of a Man Gone Wild,” by Leif Reigstad.
It’ll be the story of a Joe Exotic-like character, Joe Schreibvogel, an eccentric, exotic zookeeper in Oklahoma who fights to keep his park even at the risk of losing his sanity. The series will explore how he became Joe Exotic, and how he lost himself to a character of his own creation.
This will be Cage’s first time in a regular TV role.
