McDonald’s is going greener. The fast food giant is working to have all its packaging worldwide come from sustainable sources by 2025. They’re goal is to get all items like bags, straws, wrappers, and cups from recycled or renewable materials, currently about half of them are.
Mickey D’s also wants 100% of its restaurants to recycle packaging by then, only about 10% do now. And the push for these changes comes from customers themselves. According to Francesca DeBiase, McDonald’s chief supply and sustainability officer, the number one request from customers was for the restaurants “to use less packaging, sourced responsibly and designed to be taken care of after use.”
