A couple of Georgia doctors who have been best friends since they started their residency together at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta are taking friendship goals to a whole new level. Dr. Laquita Martinez delivered Dr. Jocelyn Slaughter’s first child back in 2014 and now Slaughter has returned the favor by delivering Martinez’s third child.
“It was an amazing experience. I was definitely nervous … just operating on your best friend is a little scary, but I knew that I had to do it,” Slaughter says of the caesarean section. “I knew that she wanted me to and that I wouldn’t want her to do it with anybody else.”
Slaughter is now pregnant with her second child, so she would love to keep this tradition going, but with her bestie having just given birth to her own baby, she says it probably won’t happen. But she says she’s keeping her fingers crossed that it might.
