Orange County, FL - A Florida resident has initiated legal action against Walt Disney World, claiming he sustained severe injuries while visiting the resort's Blizzard Beach water park.

Eugene Strickland alleges that during a July 2021 visit, he suffered "permanent catastrophic injuries" on the Downhill Double Dipper slide.

According to the lawsuit filed on May 29th in Orange County, Strickland, became airborne due to the slide's design and speed.

He claims this caused his inner tube to dislodge, leading to a forceful impact with the slide's surface.

The complaint accuses Disney of negligence, asserting that the company failed to enforce weight restrictions, adequately maintain equipment, and properly warn guests of potential hazards.

Strickland is seeking over $50,000 in damages, citing ongoing physical and emotional suffering.

The Downhill Double Dipper is described by Disney as a high-speed, side-by-side racing slide that plunges guests 50 feet downhill. Strickland's case is scheduled for a jury trial in May 2027.

As of now, Disney has not publicly commented on the pending litigation.
