A local surfer is recovering in the hospital after being attacked by a shark earlier this morning. This happened around 9:30 am in the waters near Fort Pierce Inlet State Park.
The victim took a massive bite between the knee and ankle and had to be transported to a nearby hospital as a trauma patient. Paramedics shared that he is in serious condition.
There are now double red flags posted at the beach and beachgoers are warned to swim only in lifeguard areas and stay near shore.
