Accused “Foreign Agent” Former Rep. David Rivera on Trial in Miami

(Miami, FL) - The federal trial of former Florida congressman David Rivera starts today in Miami.

Rivera is accused of violating the Foreign Agents Registration Act for allegedly working as an agent for Venezuelan national Raul Gorrin Belisario.

Rivera served as a congressman from 2011 to 2013 and is claimed to have received $5.5 million in a corruption scheme" to bribe the national treasurer of Venezuela.

Riveras’ former roommate, and now Secretary of State Marco Rubio is expected to take the witness stand.
