Jo Dee Messina said she’s “gotta start the day off right with my girl [Ella Langley].”

Messina shared her rendition of Langley’s hit single, “Choosin’ Texas,” on her social media accounts on Monday (January 12). The iconic 90s country star sat in the drivers seat of her parked vehicle as she sang the storytelling heartbreak ballad: “Just when I thought I got him to fall in love with Tennessee/ I shoulda known better than to take him back to Abilene/ I put him right back into her arms/ I wasn’t a match for that kinda spark/ She’s from Texas I can tell by the way/ He’s two steppin round the room/ And judgin by the smile that’s written on his face/ There’s nothin I can to do/ It doesn’t take a crystal ball to see/ A cowboy always finds a way to leave/ Drinkin Jack all by myself [Messina held up her water bottle as she lyric swapped, ‘Drinkin’ water by myself’]/ He’s choosin’ Texas I can tell.”

Commenters on TikTok and Instagram said “we need a duet,” “my 90s country obsessed heart is smiling so large right now,” “absolutely obsessed” and more. Langley released “Choosin’ Texas” in October 2025, and the classic country single quickly became a favorite among fans. The award-winning country star teamed up with Miranda Lambert, Luke Dick and Joybeth Taylor to bring the song to life. Watch Messina’s cover here:
