The Florida Department of Corrections reminds sex offenders under supervision they must follow restrictions on Halloween:

  • No candy distribution
  • No porch lights and blinds must be closed
  • No exterior decorations
  • No attendance of Halloween events

Child sexual abuse survivor and Lauren's Kids Foundation founder Lauren Book admits you can't 100% keep your kids safe because, "that would be keeping them in the bubble, but what we do want to do is make sure that we're having conversations and teaching kids and guiding them to understand their feelings... what makes them feel safe or unsafe... and then what do they do about that."

While all kids should carry or wear something that glows and doesn't block vision, the former State Senator and mom says there's another item moms and dads can keep out of site.

"Stick an AirTag on a Halloween costume or in a trick or treating bag to make sure that they keep track of their kids."

If kids are going with a group, make sure to have the names and numbers of each of them.
