Cops in Port St. Lucie say a man killed one roommate and beat another because he thought one of them was an "Algerian spy."

And Police Chief Leo Niemczyk (neem-check) says it all happened after the three men stayed up for several days, snorting cocaine.

"Quite honestly, it's just a bizarre scenario. You couldn't make it up. You couldn't write a TV show like that. I just have no words for it."

He says 43-year-old Justin Hobel shot and killed 26-year-old Jonathan Somoano after the man ran to get help from a neighbor while Hobel had handcuffed the other roommate, and began punching and strangling him.

Officers arrived as that man was able to escape and Hobel allegedly fired shots towards him that missed.

Hobel is charged with first degree murder, attempted first degree murder and false imprisonment.
