Arajet: Low-Cost D.R. Airline Launches U.S. Service From Miami

With its' slogan "Vamo' Arriba" (Going Up),  the flag carrier and largest airline of the Dominican Republic, Arajet, officially launches its U.S. service with the first flight from Miami International Airport (MIA) today. Arajet, launched service in September 2022, now serves 16 countries and 23 destinations with a fleet of 10 Boeing 737 Max 8s. Thanks to the Open Skies agreement signed in August of 2024, ratified by the Dominican Congress and finally receiving sign-off from the U.S., the treaty streamlined the path for airlines to add service between the two countries.

Arajet’s Founder and CEO Victor Pacheco discussed his vision for cost-effective travel for Miami travelers and why he chose MIA for the airline’s U.S launch.

Pacheco says that the airline is promoting roundtrip flights from $250 (taxes included) via Santo Domingo and Punta Cana. Recent analysis of airfares suggests roundtrip economy tickets across all airlines currently range from $400 to $550, with prices higher at peak periods. Journey times are around four hours or less in some cases.
