More than 10,000 pounds of pork products were part of two separate recalls in four U.S. states due to "a health hazard situation," according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service.

Impero Foods & Meat, Inc. which is based in Baltimore, Maryland, recalled approximately 7,485 pounds of raw pork sausage products, which it said were produced "without the benefit of federal inspection," last Friday (December 20), according to a USDA FSIS news release. Ralph's Packing Company, which is based in Perkins, Oklahoma, recalled "approximately 3,132 pounds of its ready-to-eat pork and beef bologna products due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen," according to a separate USDA FSIS news release shared that same day.

The Impero Foods & Meats recall includes the following items, which were shipped to restaurants and retail locations in Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania:

  • 10-lb. white cardboard box cases containing a plastic bag of “Old World Italian Sausage” with “rope” handwritten on the case.
  • 10-lb. white cardboard box cases containing a plastic bag of “Old World Italian Sausage” with “link” handwritten on the case.

The recalled items include number "EST. 10827" inside the USDA mark of inspection. The issue was discovered when FSIS surveyed activities at a retailer after it was discovered that items may have been produced at a facility that had a suspended grant of inspection, later determining that the items were, in fact, produced without FSIS inspection.

No adverse reactions to consumption of the Impero Food & Meals items have been confirmed, according to the USDA FSIS.

The Ralph's Packing Company recall includes the following items shipped to retail and foodservice locations in Oklahoma:

  • 16-oz. (1 LB) or various weight (larger than 16-oz.) vacuum-sealed chubs of “Ralph’s CIRCLE R BRAND GARLIC BOLOGNA” with lot codes 0093, 0654, 0804, 1074, 1153, 1224, 1374, 1774, 1924, 2572, 2974, 3132, and 3483.
  • 16-oz. (1 LB) or various weight (larger than 16-oz.) vacuum-sealed chubs of “Ralph’s CIRCLE R BRAND GARLIC BOLOGNA with Jalapenos” with lot codes 0804, 1074, 1224, 1233, 1354, 2184, and 3374.

The Ralph's Packing Company recalled products didn't include milk on the label. There haven't been any confirmed reports of adverse reactions to individuals who consumed the recalled product, according to the USDA FSIS.
