West Palm Beach is pumping water from underground wells to supplement the city's water supply as the main source of drinking water is extremely low.
The city gets that water from Clear Lake along Australian Avenue, but lower than normal rainfall and record heat are drying up the lake.
Neighbors say they've never seen Clear Lake as low as it is right now.
City officials say they have recently activated wellfields, utilizing the Florida surficial aquifer to add about 10 million gallons of water per day.
The city reminds residents that lawn watering and landscape irrigation is prohibited daily between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
West Palm Beach says year-round water restrictions remain in effect and landscape watering is only allowed three days per week in the city as well as the towns of Palm Beach and South Palm Beach. Even numbered addresses can water lawns on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, while odd-numbered addresses can do so on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
