Paramedic In Training Saves Stranger Pinned By Car

An Oregon man who’s studying to become a paramedic got some real-life training when a medical emergency unfolded right in front of him. Miguel Vasquez’s Jeep stalled on the highway in Portland and Jalen Williams pulled over to help him push it to the side of the road as traffic surrounded them.

While they were moving the Jeep, a driver slammed into Williams from behind, pinning his legs between the two vehicles. It was bad - he was left with several broken bones and a big gash that cut his Femoral Artery. Fortunately, the man he stopped to help knew what to do.

Vasquez’s EMT training helped him act quickly to save the good samaritan who stopped to help him. He made a tourniquet with his belt to slow the bleeding, saving Williams’ life. The men have stayed in touch and are now friends who are thankful for each other’s actions.
