Rough surf off the coast of North Carolina caused trouble for swimmers this week, but beachgoers in Emerald Isle formed a human chain to rescue those in danger. Video taken by witness Shane Gentry shows dozens of people link arms to pull people to shore safely.
The town of Emerald Isle warned folks to stay out of the ocean because of dangerous surf after a 41-year-old man drowned. Lifeguards and the fire department helped rescue several others from the rough waters, according to a local official.
"The sun came out," the official explains, "and I suspect that some folks had cabin fever, despite red flags.” Fortunately, a crowd came together to save swimmers.
