Burger King Spoiling Dying Dog With Free Cheeseburgers

After their 10-year-old dog Cody, a boxer-lab mix, was diagnosed with cancer and given one to three months to live, his owner Alex Karcherstarted buying him a plain cheeseburger every day from a Burger King in Toledo, Ohio. His family is trying to do everything they can to keep their pet happy and comfortable in his final days and the burger is a favorite that he eats with all his meds “to make it easier and more enjoyable,” Karcher shared on Twitter.

On one of his visits to pick up Cody’s usual order, the employee helping Karcher asked about the order and when she heard the story, she went to talk to her manager. The woman returned and told Karcher that Cody could eat free at their location for the rest of his days.

"I can't explain how much that means to us, and my family and I are beyond appreciative," Karcher tweets. “It’s appreciated more than words can describe.”

Many in the Twitterverse had kind words for Karcher, including Burger King. “The world needs more kindness and empathy,” the company writes. “Thank you for giving us the chance to do this for Cody.”
