GOOD NEWS: Veteran Reunited With Lost Dog Tags After 60 Years

A 15-year-old boy in Montana found a set of dog tags and sergeant’s stripes in the yard at his house and was able to help get them back to the man who lost them decades ago. Wyatt Macy was coming home one day when he saw something shiny in his yard and pulled the partially buried metal up, then realized what he’d found.

Wyatt and his mom reached out to the American Legion Post in Twin Bridges to track down the owner of the dog tags, Jack Bennetts. The 84-year-old Billings man’s mother lived at the Macy’s house when he finished up his service in the Marines in 1957 and he hadn’t seen the dog tags and sergeant’s stripes in 60 years.

“It’s a pleasant surprise,” Bennetts says. “And I was very happy to get them. I never thought I’d see them again.”
