As a child, Jerrit Elmer says he visited the East Idaho State Fair with his grandparents every year. The Idaho man says they often made a stop at the Idaho Lottery event trailer and bought a ticket. Once he became old enough to play, he’s followed in his grandparents’ footsteps.
Now Elmer credits that family tradition for making him $200,000 richer. This year when he went to the fair with his wife, Shanelle, and their 10 kids, they bought a ticket. She jokes that her hubby was eager to get to the lottery booth to play, but she made him go see the giant horse and giant pig first, but in the end, it paid off and he got a winning scratch off ticket.
“This is coming at a perfect time for us,” Shanelle says. After this win, we bet they’ll stick with this family tradition.
