Social media commenters have been buzzing with guesses since Morgan Wallen confirmed his highly-anticipated studio album will include his first-ever duet with a female artist.
Now, many of them seem convinced itās a pop star who appeared to share a cryptic clue on her Instagram story on Tuesday (April 15).
Wallen confirmed the duet in a rare response to a postĀ on X, formerly Twitter,Ā last week. Someone asked the country star: ā[Morgan Wallen], please please PLEASE confirm āWhat I Wantā is a duet. You havenāt yet sang with any female artists on any of your first three albums, so PLEASE tell me this is the case.ā Wallen simply replied: āIndeed sir.ā
Since then, Wallen has kept fans guessing rather than revealing the identity of his mystery duet partner. Some commenters have named Miranda Lambert,Ā Lainey Wilson,Ā Ella LangleyĀ andĀ Megan Moroney,Ā among many others. TikTokers particularly wondered whether a Wallen-Moroney collab was on the way when Moroney referenced Wallenās viral phrase, āget me to Godās country,ā which he said after abruptly leaving Saturday Night Live. Wallen said on April 10, āI havenāt seen one person guess the female collab on this album correctly yet.ā
Now, fans think itās a pop artist because of a photo she shared on her Instagram story on Tuesday. Itās a close-up image of an orange jersey ā presumably University of Tennessee ā with the initials āMWā near the neckline and āT8ā printed on the front of the jersey.
Did Wallen team up with Tate McRae?
Neither artist confirmed or denied the rumor as of publication time.
McRaeās teaser arrived the same day Wallen confirmed he has another collaboration with Post Malone on the way. The āI Had Some Helpā duo will join forces again on āI Aināt Cominā Back,āĀ which is slated to release on Friday (April 18). Itāll be the latest song to release from Wallenās 37-track studio record, Iām The Problem, following the title track, āJust In Case,ā āIām A Little Crazy,ā āLove Somebody,ā āSmileā and āLies Lies Lies.ā Iām The Problem arrives on May 16.
