Jupiter Will Be So Close In June That You Can See It With Binoculars

According to NASA, Jupiter will be so close to Earth in the month of June that you will be able to see it with binoculars! On June 10th, Jupiter reaches opposition which means the Earth will fall into a straight line between the sun and the planet. Jupiter should then be visible all night before and after opposition.

As Jupiter is the largest planet in our solar system, it will be able to be seen by the naked eye, but scientists recommend using binoculars or a small telescope to see more. With binoculars, one should be able to see Jupiter's four largest moons and a glimpse of the red bands around the planet. Without them, it will resemble a brighter star.

Calling all Space Nerds: What do you think? Will you be on the lookout for Jupiter this month?
