Navy Seaman Anthony L. Meizis of Weymouth, Massachusetts, passed away at the age of 80, and the funeral home was unable to locate any family able to attend his service. Not wanting to bury the veteran alone, the funeral director, Cara Johnson, posted a plea on social media for area motorcyclists to escort Meizis to his final resting place. The message was heard loud and clear as it was shared hundreds of times.
So last Friday, nearly 500 motorcycle riders came out to pay their final respects. Angel Zaporetski helped organize a group of riders from the Fraternal Order of Eagles. She says they’re “all in” for supporting veterans. "He loved motorcycles and they requested help for an escort. So, of course, that's what we do.”
