Police in Indiana saved Christmas for a family when their gifts were stolen by what the cops call "a true life Grinch” on Christmas Eve. Officers in South Bend responded to a burglary call back on Christmas morning. When they got to the victim’s home, it was there that they discovered a burglar had taken every single one of the family’s Christmas gifts. To top it off, the Grinch even stole food from their refrigerator.

Patrolman Brian Meador compared the burglary to the story “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” and said, “They really left this family with nothing much at all.”

The kind-hearted officer wanted to do something to help the family, so he reached out to the local Fraternal Order of Police. Soon, several officers arrived at the home with new Christmas presents. They brought the mother and her three children several gifts including a bicycle, dolls and other toys. They even came back a little later to bring the family some food.

The grateful mother thanked the officers for saving Christmas for her family, but Meador says they were just doing their duty to serve and protect the community. “To see those little girls’ faces when they saw the presents under the tree and started playing with them,” Officer Meador says. “That’s why we do what we do.“
