A 10-year streak of eating nothing but chicken nuggets sounds like an attempt at a world record, but in 11-year-old Jessica Thompson’s case, it was a disorder. Her mother, Julia Cain, says Jessica became obsessed with chicken nuggets when she was just 18 months old and has eaten little else since then until a hypnotherapist helped.
Jessica was diagnosed with avoidant restrictive food intake disorder or ARFID, and hypnotherapist David Kilmurry had already helped a teenager from Wales to break free of the issue. It took three weeks’ worth of work with Kilmurry to get Jessica eating new things, and her mother says she’s now enjoying entire meals, including fruits and vegetables.
