Astronauts Prepare For Space X Mission

US-SPACE-AEROSPACE-SPACEX

Are we one day closer to returning to space? Maybe, but some bad weather could dampen the spirits after SpaceX officially declared itself a "go” yesterday. If all goes as planned, the company will launch two NASA astronauts to the International Space Station tomorrow afternoon from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley are set to become the first astronauts to launch to orbit from American soil in a decade. Demo-2 will be the first crewed test flight of SpaceX's Crew Dragon spacecraft after it was successfully tested without people last March.

The two have been in quarantine since early March, which is the longest quarantine period in the history of any space crew in the history of the program. The mission will be the first crewed test flight of the Crew Dragon spacecraft and the first manned spaceflight from the U.S. since 2011.

They'll be donning new space suits, developed from scratch by Space X, which will be customized to each individual and less bulky.
