Apple announced an update coming with iOS12 that could be a game changer for 911 calls across America. When you call 911 now, you have to tell the operator your exact location. If you are unable to provide this information, the operator will track the call to the nearest cell tower.
However, this could still be a pretty wide area for first responders to search. This new update Apple is providing will pinpoint your EXACT location when you dial 911. Apple is teaming up with RapidSOS, a company currently used by Uber, to provide this technology.
Apple shares that the update will be available to the public later this year and ensures their customers that it will only be accessed during emergency situations.
