Shelters are opening on the Treasure Coast.

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY

Mandatory evacuation for those areas will begin on Saturday at 8:00 AM. Emergency shelters will open on Saturday at 8:00 AM. The following shelters will open:

•Freshman Learning Center, 1507 19th Street

•Oslo Middle School, 480 20th Avenue SW

•Sebastian River Middle, 9400 CR 512

•Fellsmere Elementary School, 50 North Cypress Street

•Liberty Magnet, 6850 81st Street

•Treasure Coast Elementary, 8955 85th Street

As those shelters open and begin to fill, the need to open other will be assessed.


MARTIN COUNTY

Officials have announced mandatory evacuations in advance of Hurricane Irma beginning at 8:00 am on Saturday, September 9 in conjunction with shelter openings. This order applies to residences on the barrier islands (Hutchinson Island and Jupiter Island), Sewall's Point and manufactured/mobile homes, as well as homes in low-lying areas. Residents are urged to follow the evacuation order. Additional evacuation areas may be identified if the National Hurricane Center issues potential storm surge warnings.

Emergency shelters will open at 8:00 am on Saturday, September 9 for affected residents. Residents are encouraged to consider other sheltering options before deciding to go to an emergency shelter. The shelters are located at:

•Port Salerno Elementary School, 3260 SE Lionel Terrace, Stuart

•JD Parker Elementary School, 1010 SE 10th Street, Stuart

•Jensen Beach High School, 2875 NW Goldenrod Road, Jensen Beach

•Hidden Oaks Middle School, 2801 SW Martin Highway, Palm City

•Warfield Elementary School, 15260 SW 150th Street, Indiantown


ST. LUCIE COUNTY

St. Lucie County will open it's special needs shelter Friday at 9 a.m. at the Fenn Center, 2000 Virginia Ave., Fort Pierce. Residents using the special needs shelter must pre-register at www.stlucieco.gov/eoc 

Eight general population shelters will open Saturday at 9 a.m.:

Westwood High School, 1801 Angle Road, Fort Pierce (pet-friendly)

Fort Pierce Central High School4101 S, outh 25th Street, Fort Pierce

Treasure Coast High School, 1000 SW Darwin Blvd. Port St. Lucie

Westgate K-8 School, 1050 NE Cashere Blvd., Port St. Lucie

Lakewood Park Elementary, 7800 Indrio Road, Fort Pierce

Oak Hammock Elementary, 1251 SW California Blvd, Port St Lucie

Samuel S. Gaines Academy, 2250 S Jenkins Rd, Fort Pierce

Parkway Elementary School, 7000 NW Selvitz Rd, Port St Lucie
