Homeless Man Seen Carrying 8 Foot Rattlesnake Around Florida Beach Town

An 8-foot rattlesnake had to be thrown in the back of a cop car after those in Jacksonville Beach reported a homeless man carrying him around. Sgt. Larry Smith responded to the call and asked the homeless man to put the snake in the back of his patrol car. A Florida FWC official then had to come remove the snake from the police cruiser and relocate him to the wild.

The homeless man did not face charges, but officials do want to remind those that is is illegal AND DANGEROUS to handle wild venomous animals.

Jacksonville Beach Police shared this picture of the creature along with the caption.

"Well, meanwhile in Jacksonville Beach this morning... 6, 7, or 8 feet? I'm not getting the tape measure out. Thank you to the Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission for relocating our guest."
