This controversy struck Twitter last week when Canadian singer/songwriter, Connor Shaw, took to the social media site to share that Jason Aldean's #1 single, "You Make it Easy" was actually his song...
Shaw explains that he wrote the song "Easy" in 2015 for a music class and then sent it to a friend in Nashville. He believes that somewhere along the lines, the writers of "You Make it Easy" (Morgan Wallen & Florida Georgia Line) ripped off his song for their song. Read Shaw's twitter thread below and then compare the two songs. Let us know what you think.
The song under question is Jason Aldean’s “You Make It Easy” which is said to have been written for him by the members of Florida Georgia Line and another prominent country songwriter by the name of Morgan Wallen.— Connor Shaw (@Curlyshaw) May 15, 2018
This particular song ended up being quite well-received by the instructor in one of my songwriting courses, so I chose to post the song online (YouTube, Facebook, SoundCloud, etc.)— Connor Shaw (@Curlyshaw) May 15, 2018

We had that exchange in October of 2017.— Connor Shaw (@Curlyshaw) May 15, 2018
All is quiet for a few months.
On February 8 of 2018 I was checking out all of the new Music that was released for that week and I stumbled upon a new song titled “You Make It Easy” by Jason Aldean
I thought “Hmm, that’s funny. My song uses that as the hook for the chorus, I wonder what this sounds like”— Connor Shaw (@Curlyshaw) May 15, 2018
After listening for the first minute of the song I came to the shocking realization that “You Make It Easy” uses the same hook and melody as my song.
I’m sure I missed a bunch of details, but it’s late and I’m tired, so I hope you found this as interesting as I find it infuriating.— Connor Shaw (@Curlyshaw) May 15, 2018
Well played, Jason Aldean. Well played. Have fun with my #1 song.
So there you can see that Connor Shaw has made his case against the song. Below we have attached the video for both "Easy" and "You Make it Easy". What do you think about the two? Similar?
