Hundreds of people brave the sweltering Phoenix heat waiting to pay their respects to Senator John McCain yesterday. An American flag drapes his coffin as his body lies in state in the Capitol rotunda. He was delivered there by the Arizona National Guard Casket Team, who carried him as the entire McCain family was greeted and escorted in by Governor Doug Ducey and the First Lady of Arizona for a memorial service.
Today’s memorial service at North Phoenix Baptist Church will feature multiple tributes, including a tribute from former Vice President Joe Biden. Later on, McCain's body will be flown from Arizona to the U.S. Capitol for another viewing and memorial service tomorrow.
A National Memorial Service for McCain is set for Saturday at the Washington National Cathedral, which is where former presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush will be among those delivering eulogies. Finally on Sunday, there will be a private memorial at the U.S. Naval Academy followed by a burial service.
