April 22nd is National Jelly Bean Day! Did you know that jellybeans were President Ronald Reagan’s favorite treat? Jellybeans were once specifically associated with Easter, however that has changed and now these sugary “beans” are the favorite of many every day of the year.
In 1861, William Schrafft, a Boston confectioner urged people to send jellybeans to soldiers during the American Civil War. It is thought that this is how the modern day jellybeans were first surfaced.
