Tropical Storm Chantal continues to strengthen with maximum sustained winds of 65mph.

The 2pm update from the National Hurricane Center says the center of Chantal will move away from the Lesser Antilles today, and continue over the eastern Caribbean Sea this afternoon and tonight.

According to our weather partner, Storm Team 5, Chantal will move over Hispaniola tomorrow as a strong tropical storm or possibly a category 1 hurricane.

Meteorologist Glenn Glazer says the the storm’s future from there is very uncertain, and it is likely that the mountainous terrain of Hispaniola will greatly weaken or destroy it.

Most of Florida is now in the error cone, and if it makes it into the Bahamas, it could bring us increased chances of showers and thunderstorms Saturday  through Monday.
